Drinagh Rangers 5 Clonakilty AFC 1
Drinagh Rangers maintained their 100% start to the West Cork Masters League campaign with a comprehensive 5-1 defeat of Clonakilty AFC in Canon Crowley Park. The visitors' defence proved difficult to breakdown until the quarter hour mark when Liam Curran continued his excellent season by heading home a J.J. Hurley cross to put Rangers 1-0 up. Philip Clifford doubled his side's advantage shortly afterwards before Mike Doolan made it 3-0 shortly before the break. David Hourihane made sure of the points midway through the second period and Mike Doolan grabbed his second of the evening courtesy of a marvellous effort to complete Drinagh's total. Clonakilty AFC's Tom Houlihan registered his side's first goal of the campaign with a late effort but Drinagh ran out worthy winners thanks to the efforts of Philip Clifford, Liam Curran and J.J. Hurley. Chris McCarthy and Paul McCarthy impressed for Clon.
Skibbereen 1 Clonakilty Town 3
Clonakilty Town kept pace with Drinagh Rangers at the summit of the West Cork Masters League table thanks to a hard-earned 3-1 win in the Baltimore Road over Skibbereen. The home side hit the front as early as the second minute with Billy Flaherty netting but Clonakilty leveled shortly afterwards courtesy of a converted Pat Walsh spot-kick. Eamon Hurley pushed the visitors in front in the 20th minute with a confident finish and Kevin Kignston wrapped up the points for Town with his side's third goal midway through the second half. Skibbereen were reduced to ten men before full time and couldn't prevent Clonakilty Town from registering their fourth consecutive win thanks to the efforts of Brian O'Donovan, Willie Griffin and Diarmuid O'Sullivan.
Courtmacsherry 1 Castletown Celtic 5
Castletown Celtic jumped into third place in the standings following a 5-1 victory away to Courtmacsherry on an evening Joe Gallagher netted four times for the winners. The hosts played the entire fixture with only ten men but managed to grab an early lead through a fine Norman Fleming goal. John McGillicuddy grabbed a crucial equaliser for Castletown just minutes before the half time break and Courtmacsherry looked set to hold on for a draw until Joe Gallagher took centre stages in the final 10 minutes. The Castletown striker took advantage of tiring Courtmcashery limbs to scored four times without reply during a devastating spell late on and push Celtic into the top three for the first time this season.Jerry Nyhan, Gordon Anderson and Joe Gallagher were outstanding for Castletown with Declan Hennessy, Kenneth Madden and Norman Fleming the pick of Courtmac's top performers.
