ROUND3 - Wednesday June 6th 2012

Week3 of the 2012 West Cork Masters League sponsored by O'Brien's Bar Rosscarbery sees five fixtures down for decision on Wednesday evening writes Ger McCarthy.
Cloughduv Celtic sit out round three of the West Cork Masters League due to a bye week allowing both Drinagh Rangers and Clonakilty Town the opportunity to open up a 3 point gap at the top of the table. The standout fixture on June 6th sees a mouth-watering local derby between Clonakilty AFC and Clonakilty Town taking place in Darrara. The AFC produced a battling display to lose by a solitary goal to Skibbereen in their only fixture to date while Town have maximum points from their opening two encounters. Form goes out the window when these two sides meet so another tightly fought local derby is expected in Darrara on Wednesday evening.
Drinagh Rangers will hope to maintain their 100% start to the season away to Ardfield in Carrigroe having accounted for Bunratty United and Rosscarbery in their first two matches. Liam Curran is in good goal scoring form for the Canon Crowley Park outfit and should lead an impressive attack that also includes Mike Doolan and Philip Clifford. Ardfield have won one and lost one thus far but will need to be at their best to prevent Drinagh from recording a third consecutive win.
Another Round3 local derby sees Bunratty United hosting Skibbereen in Schull with the home side coming off the back of an eye-catching 2-0 victory away to Ardfield last time out. Skibb remain unbeaten but were disappointingly held to a 1-1 draw by Castletown on their home patch in Round2 suggesting a tight encounter on Wednesday night between two sides capable of mixing it with the top ranked teams.
Rosscarbery travel to Castletownkennigh in search of their first points of the summer campaign and face a Castletown Celtic side who got off the mark in Round2 following a 1-1 draw away to Skibbereen. Neither side will want to lose this one so a low scoring draw looks a distinct possibility between two teams that possess excellent defences.
Dunmanway Town host Courtmachserry in Mohona in a must-win game for two teams that have yet to get off the mark in this year's league. A positive display away to Clonakilty Town last time out suggests Courtmacsherry possess enough quality to trouble a Dunmanway defence that has conceded six goals in two games.Yet the hosts will be under pressure to record their first 3 points having already succumbed to both Ardfield and Cloughduv.
